Today we sat down with our Marketing and Account Manager Vanessa Müller to learn more about her.
What do you do as a Marketing and Account Manager? What are your main tasks?
My tasks as a Marketing Manager are mainly related to traditional marketing such as organizing exhibitions and promotional events, writing press releases and make sure they are distributed to channels, preparing marketing material (such as booklets, stationary), ideating the Christmas Campaign – among others.
Moreover, I help my colleagues with the Swiss and German markets, taking care of clients’ needs, dealing with their orders and making sure that the whole process runs smoothly. I like to communicate with people and build up good relationships.
I’m glad I have the opportunity to combine various different tasks at Swedbrand, my job is not limited to only one field and that is what excites me the most. I never get bored and I always have the chance to learn something.
Tell us something about your experience at Swedbrand. How has it been for you so far? What do you enjoy most about your job?
I started working at Swedbrand a year ago, and so far I have to say that the experience has been really positive. I really enjoy working in such a fast-paced and innovative company and the working environment here is one of the nicest I have ever tried.
The part I enjoy the most is obviously when projects turn out to be successful, it is an immense satisfaction for me to see that finally my efforts have led to the desired outcome. I feel proud to say that so far my biggest satisfaction here at Swedbrand has been participating to the creation of the new website. It is a project that we have been working on for a long time and it is incredibly fulfilling to see that finally it is concluded.
Use three adjectives to describe Swedbrand. What makes it so special to work here?
- Young & Fresh
What makes it special? The people. In my opinion, the working environment is essential to make you enjoy your job; it affects the way you work. Working at Swedbrand is like being in a big family. I am very happy to say that over the past year at Swedbrand I have met people that I can consider friends.
You just got married. How did you prepare for ‘The Big Day’? Where will you spend your honeymoon?
We started with the preparation in November 2015. I have to thank my family and friends for their help and support, without them I could have never been able to organize everything.
‘The Big Day’ was in September (30.09.16) and it was simply amazing. I was really nervous and strained but thank God everything went as planned, even the weather was perfect, considering the season! I am glad that everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did, having fun and dancing till the morning light!
We still haven’t planned our honeymoon, but I have clear in mind that the destination will be Hawaii, probably next year. I have always been fascinated by this country, not only because of its amazing beaches but also because of its culture and people. They look so laid back and always with a positive attitude! I really cannot wait to go!
How is life in Shanghai? What do you miss most about Germany?
I really like Shanghai, it’s an incredible city. Here you can meet people from everywhere in the world and the expat community is not that big, so we pretty much all know each other. However, there are a few things that I really miss about Germany, first of all my family and friends. I try to go home twice a year but it’s still not easy to leave so far away from your loved ones.
Another thing I miss about my country is breakfast, especially German bread! It’s so difficult to find places where they sell our typical products at affordable prices here in Shanghai! I also miss baking. It’s something I used to do often back home and here I can’t, since in China most of the houses don’t have an oven.
Last but not least, fast Internet! It’s so frustrating sometimes, the connection keeps on dropping and even when it works the Wi-Fi is really slow! So this is definitely one of the things I enjoy the most when I am back home!
Which are your main hobbies? What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love travelling. This is definitely my favourite hobby. I enjoy meeting new people and cultures and discovering new places.
Another thing I really like doing here is exploring the city, trying new restaurants and bars. This is one of the positive aspects of living in a city like Shanghai, new places keep on opening and new people keep on coming! You never get bored!
As I already said, I really enjoy baking, and cooking in general, so in my free time I challenge myself in the kitchen, trying new recipes and experimenting different cuisines.
I also like reading when I have time, it helps me relax and disconnect from the world.
