When it comes to luxury, there are few places as trendsetting as London or Paris. If you had the chance to travel to Paris in November, you might have heard that Les Places d’Or, Design and Luxury Packaging Exhibition, was taking place from the 14th to the 16th of November. It’s the perfect location for suppliers and buyers of prestige, premium packaging to come together, network, share ideas, and do business!
In a market as dynamic, competitive, and creative as the packaging one, it’s paramount for buyers, brands and retailers to stay abreast of the market’s trends, challenges and solutions; especially when it comes to the luxury industry which is fearsome and very demanding.
Creativity, high technology and quality. These are the three fundamental requirements of the international luxury packaging fair.
At the beginning of the 90s, Richard David Zaoui realized that he was missing a business networking event and a place that could unite suppliers of the most famous luxury brands sharing the same European concept of luxury.
Therefore, in 1994 he created a lounge called “Les Places d’Or”, in other words “The Golden Places” where all the professionals, buyers, and customers could meet in a prestigious place, with a felted and cozy atmosphere, the Hotel Le Crillon in Paris.
The venue was later changed into the the prestigious luxury Hotel Le Meurice, where the show takes place annually.
For 23 years, the show Les Places d’Or has been gathering experts of the design and luxury packaging world for a unique exhibition. For three days, important spokespeople of the industry meet in the Parisian luxury hotel to exhibit their most beautiful realisations, receiving only this year more than 3000 visitors, among whom the representatives of the most prestigious brands.
A selection of 50 companies from jewelry, fashion and leather to tableware, spirits, chocolate, and delicatessen were representing the new technologies of the Design and Luxury packaging (creations made of crystal, glass, plastic art, metal, cardboard, paper, wood and textile).
Marketing directors, art directors, creative directors, production managers, purchasing managers, executive managers of the biggest fashion, luxury and beauty brands participated in the event to get inspired and discover the latest trends combining creativity, high technologies and quality.
Les Places d’Or is the perfect opportunity for its visitors to discover the latest French high-end luxury architects, renowned packaging designers, and artists, in a context which is perfect for networking and getting inspired. The intimate and prestigious space provided by Le Meurice confers to Les Places d’Or a favored dimension in the universe of the professional business shows.
Every raw material (wood, cardboard, ceramic, cristal, leather, metal, paper, plastic, porcelain, glass) and every component (cork, bottle, decanter, casket, label, cases, flask) is represented by a company and displayed in a very beautiful showcase.
Phillippe Benacin, CEO of the Group Interflavor, inaugurated this 13th edition as Honorary President together with guests particularly sensitive to the subject of the exhibition, such as Vitalie Taittinger from the Champagne Taittinger Group, Fancis Kurkdjian from Kurkdjian
Perfumes, and Sylvie Le Gastellois and Christophe Guenet from Chanel.
